STREAM Coding Boot Camp
Established in 2015, STREAM Innovation, Inc. is an up and coming 501 (c) (3) designated non-profit developed to address the need for students from undervalued and underserved communities to be introduced to Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STREAM).
Our mission is to help students to develop and explore their passion (STREAM) by providing exposure, experiences, and engagement with high expectations for their success!! We promote collaborative innovation to engage students in their desired STREAM discipline(s) and innovate solutions to real world problems in their communities.
The awesome project that we would like the Awesome Foundation to support is our STREAM Coding Camp.
The STREAM Coding Boot Camp provides an experience for rising 7th and 8th grade students to learn computer coding in the summer regardless of their background in STREAM. These courses are intended to equip students with coding languages (HTML, CSS, JQuery, and Java Script) that can be used across all STREAM fields. We completed our Boot Camp over the summer of 2017 at Inglenook K-8 School with 10 students.
Because of the enthusiasm of the students, we would like to launch an after school Spring 2018 Boot Camp at Inglenook K-8. This program would be similar to the Summer Boot Camp, but we would like the Summer students to help teach their peers as STREAM peer instructors along side adult instructors. We believe allowing a peer to peer teaching experience will allow for a non-traditional learning opportunity for all students participating in the Boot Camp.
