Butterfly Effect: Be the change
Local RE/MAX Realtor, Ciara Halloran is partnering with Tasha Wahl of the Butterfly Effect to bring a Social Butterfly Installation to State College.
The Butterfly Effect, founded in 2003 by Tasha Wahl (artist, philanthropist and entrepreneur), is an interactive philanthropic movement whose message echoes Gandhi’s belief that we must each be the change we want to see in the world. It is a grassroots movement redefining philanthropy one "butterfly" at a time by providing a platform for generosity on social media. The Social Butterfly installations, "work to be the change we wish to see in the world in facilitating small acts of kindness, promoting creativity and empowering philanthropy....inspiring communities around the world to promote positive change by participating in the interactive Social Butterfly art installations."
The goal is to raise at least $2000.00 for our local charities within 30 days of the installation. Each person photographed with the Butterfly will earn $20 to their charity of choice. The money up to $2000.00 will be gifted from our partnership with the Butterfly Effect. Beyond that, any non profit or community foundation can use the Butterfly to create innovative fundraisers before finding its final resting spot.
Additionally, leading up to the mural installation, there will also be wooden butterfly “drops” in the community. These wooden butterflies, worth $100, hidden in the community will be found through clues given on social media. The person that finds the Butterfly will get to decide the local charity that will receive the $100.
