Sign of the times
If you are heading east on Michigan Avenue into Ypsilanti, and especially if you are stopped at the one-minute-long red light where Michigan, Ballard, and Congress come together, the first building you see in the downtown district of Ypsilanti is my letterpress studio, which is attached to my home.
That studio, a commercial space, features a large, windowless exterior wall.
Since buying this place a little over a year ago, I've had the awesome idea of getting one of those back-lit marquee church signs to share humorous, timely, thought-provoking messages to those entering the city.
I'm especially inspired to apply for this grant now, in these extra challenging times because I have a lot I'd like to say to the people driving past my place. Imagine driving home from work, or to the grocery store, or just driving to have a some time to yourself and seeing a sign lit up on someone's property that says "Today was a hard. Good job."
Wouldn't that be awesome?
