DSA Sydney Rashies
The Disabled Surfers Association has been running for 38 years and I have been apart for about 35 of those. I have seen the organization change from a group of surfers that were learning as they went to a professional organization that has procedures and policies even a train the trainer course whilst maintaining their grass root beginings.
After 2 years of hiatus due to Covid we were back for our 38th year taking people with a disability for a safe surfing experience. Our equipment is quiet old and one our amazing volunteers pointed out the condition of our rash vests - very thin with several holes. We are in the process of replacing but just dont have enough funds... At $48 a rash vest it quickly adds up when we need to replace 250 but a start of 20 would cover all of the green beach marshals.
