Our awesome project aims to break down barriers to access for low-income families in Gainesville, FL, by providing transportation to our afterschool program. Our program serves 15 to 20 youth at the local YMCA, offering motivational training and educational enrichment. The grant funding would support the costs of fuel, maintenance, and insurance for our van, ensuring that all students have equal access to our program regardless of their family's financial situation. By supporting transportation, we can make a lasting impact on the lives of these students, providing them with opportunities for personal and academic growth. At the afterschool program run by MOTIV8U of North Central Florida, students receive a range of benefits and resources that contribute to their personal and academic development. Through our "iMatter-uMatter-weMatter" program for ages K-5, students learn to identify and navigate their emotions, develop healthy ways to express themselves, and build strategies to cope with difficult emotions. The "REAL Essentials Advance" curriculum provides students with skills for navigating challenges in adolescence, including understanding their identity, respecting differences in others, and developing healthy dating strategies. Additionally, our "Living L.A.R.G.E." program for upper elementary to high school students focuses on self-discovery and realization, equipping students with the skills they need to succeed and become leaders in their communities. Through these programs, students gain valuable life skills, build self-confidence, and develop positive relationships with their peers and mentors. We help individuals understand their personal value, as well as the value of others. As a result of what we do, participants will have a better understanding of who they are; build on individual strengths; identify areas of ineffectiveness, and improve their ability to relate to others.
