Sea Lab: Voices for the Ocean

Sea Lab Science empowers students to become Ocean Protectionist Artists through a mobile, art-based science education program. Our innovative approach combines art, science, and activism, utilizing recycled materials and incorporating real-world experiences, such as field trips and community projects. This hands-on learning fosters creativity, critical thinking, and a strong sense of environmental responsibility. We serve Title I schools by bringing our mobile lab directly to socio-economically disadvantaged youth. Collaborating with universities, museums, and the Library of Congress, we provide unique opportunities such as internships, art showcases, and time capsule submissions, enabling students to make a meaningful impact. Feedback from our students highlights our success: 85% report a stronger sense of belonging and connection to their environment. We empower them by assigning various leadership roles in projects, such as leading community art show presentations, which builds their confidence and agency.
