Keep our seniors (and others) safe

The news out of Acushnet MA and Wakefield NH Christmas morning is chilling: 2 dead in a house fire in Acushnet, 4 dead from Carbon Monoxide poisoning in Wakefield. Why are people continuously dying needless deaths when affordable and effective detectors are available to prevent such needless tragedies? Are our seniors and others unaware of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning? Do we need to conduct more public education? Are seniors so financially stressed that they feel they can't afford the installation of detectors? My project would provide free public education at the Senior Center and the installation of free smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to hopefully prevent such tragedies in Gloucester in the future.
