My project will address literacy by creating a Literature Forest reading room that encourages students to grab a book and let the pages come alive through their imagination. My goal is to donate 1,000 books, 772 collected thus far. Many of the books are Accelerated Readers which test and develop reading comprehension skills. I will also have a "Giving Tree" that will provide free books to the students to keep or return so another student can enjoy the book. My project will also launch a reading tutoring program to improve literacy and reading comprehension skills amongst the students. The project is sustainable because it will be actively used by the Reading Coach at the center to provide one on one tutoring on one side while silent reading occurs on the other.
