Hudson Valley Flamenco Festival
The Hudson Valley Flamenco Festival transports audiences to the streets and courtyards of Southern Spain, where flamenco music and dance are woven into the fabric of everyday life and communities build strength making art together.
During one week in August, the Hudson Valley echoes with the sounds of flamenco cante (song) and the smells of paella and bunuelos de bacalao entice passersby to peek into the small restaurant such as Lodger in Newburgh, NY only to have their senses delighted by the tastes and sounds of traditional Andalusian fare and flamenco tablao style dance.
Daily flamenco dance and music classes are offered to the public through the Vanaver Caravan’s SummerDance Intensive. The comprehensive classes focus on improvisational styles of flamenco that can be performed by trained and non-trained dancers alike. An annual flash mob/free public performance by HVFF students and HVFF artists generates excitement and interest for our events as well as enables the general public to be included in the week-long celebration of flamenco.
