The Power of Hair
We all know what it feels like to have a "bad hair day". But can you imagine what it’s like to lose your hair in a traumatic way that tells the world you are fighting for your life?
With this project, we hope to eliminate barriers by subsidizing high quality wigs for women of color experiencing radiation and chemotherapy induced alopecia.
Through philanthropy and in-kind donations, our goal with “The Power of Hair" is to help make dignity and self-worth equitable, and support local business by providing locally sourced products.
We are seeking local wig makers to create 6 looks for Black, Hispanic and Asian women. Once we source the wigs, and decide on 6 designs, we plan to photograph them and create a web page designed to showcase these ethnic looks and eventually launch this as a national program, the first of its kind.
