Igniting a Passion for STEM in Brunswick!
Dinosaur! :)
Brunswick Neighbourhood House (BNH) is a not-for-profit that provides services to the local people of Brunswick. We are currently planning the roll-out of our first STEM Homework Club, a program that will cater to students in years 10-12 studying who are struggling with maths and science subjects.
Evidence shows that high-quality homework clubs can be highly influential in helping students at risk of disengaging from education. Not only do they provide education support, but also help develop students’ confidence, cultivate social connections and improve overall well-being.
We would absolutely love to bring our homework club up a notch of ‘awesomeness’ by incorporating something students love- FOOD! More specifically, highly nutritious Lebanese food from the infamous A1 Bakery. A1 makes high-quality, nutrient-packed and very reasonably priced food, and is only a 3-minute walk from BNH-making it a perfect contender to be our vendor. By being able to provide delicious food (that is also nutritious and can cater to many dietary requirements) we hope to encourage a high attendance and engagement rate. We also hope that it helps to foster a warm and inviting environment, where students know we care for them and their overall well-being. Additionally, we will spend the money to buy science and math-specific online programs, such as Brilliant and Mathletics, as well as other math and science equipment (calculators and a chemistry molecular model set).
