Established in May 2023, Hot Spell Farm is a woman-and-nonbinary operated, diversified vegetable farm located in the farthest eastern corner of Travis County. Hot Spell emerged from a desire to contribute to Austin's local food system and create a farm operation that broke the individualistic norms of how farms are traditionally operated.

Compost can be the most expensive yet critical input on a farm. Whether for soil tilth, good fungal and microbial diversity, or water retention, farmers call it black gold for a reason! A $1000 grant from the Awesome Foundation will fund Hot Spell Farm's first bulk compost order and a volunteer compost project day on the farm.
