hot salt cold light: an oceanopera
Hot salt cold light: an oceanopera is a lo-fi experimental multimedia musical performance piece about missed messages, shitty jobs, invisible labors (both human and non), technological nightmares, and mass extinction. It’s about moving forward through wave after wave of catastrophe, and mostly, about loving whales and the ocean beyond human time. Created by Svetlana Chirkova and Kristin Dombek, for analog, digital, and human voices under the influence of waves and whales, hot salt cold light is premiering at ArtBuoy, a warehouse beside the Hudson River, in Kingston, NY in August, 2024, with Brittany K. Allen, Ashley Crawford, and Lindsay Quayle performing. In coming years, we hope to visit other venues both waterside and landlocked.
