Diva was founded in 2019 by Christina Iskandar who recruited eight female volunteers to rescue food that was intended for landfill and turn it into nutritious meals for the underprivileged, homeless, and anyone doing it tough. Our monthly blessing table food pantry and BBQ connects community. At Diva, we believe access to nutritious and culturally appropriate food is a human right.

Our monthly Blessing Table helps stretch consumers’ budgets while reducing the carbon footprint. Diva receives no government support and raises money from BBQs, fundraisers and trivia nights. Diva has formed close relationships with local community partners who donate both pantry and fresh foods. We are aligned with other NFPs including Homeless Not Nameless by collecting warm blankets and clothing for those in need in winter.

Diva restores hope and dignity, promotes inclusion and self advocacy. The estimated Matraville population is close to 14,000 while half of this number are females raising children.

The 2023 ABS Census estimated mental health conditions in this population was at 6.2%. Diva acts as a referral service, providing information for the community in need. The unmet needs of this community include access to health care, poor nutrition.

Social connection has been proven to assist with both physical and mental health. Diva's Mission is to build a stronger and resilient community, bring community together and assist anyone, especially women needing support.

The money will be used as follows:

• Shade cover for the Monthly blessing table $200
• Chairs for community to sit on $300
• Storage shed for donated non-perishable foods and essential items $500
