Collaborative Haiku Billboards: The Rona Edition
Squash those little bugs.
Not in Kansas anymore.
Finding new normal.
What’s better than group of super cool people who listen to each other vent, kvetch and share about all the chaos caused by the Rona? When that group turns all of that confusion and frustration into art! This is what the Haiku Ninja Collective started doing in March.
Currently, we have 150 collaborative Haiku – a 3-line, 17-syllable poem – created by a core of ten intrepid word warriors, with an additional dozen who drop in when they can. The unique piece is that each line is written by a different person so every Haiku has three authors!
Some of these poetic nuggets are funny, others thoughtful, and all reflect how collectively we’re experiencing and processing these very strange times. It’s awesome how such a small group of words can be bring such comfort.
What day is it now?
Create schedules to stay sane.
Do one thing each day.
After four original paintings that contained the first month of Haiku were installed at the Corona Crafted Art Show in Dormont over August and September, we want to share the work at a bigger level. Our goal is to reach more people and forge connection over common ground in what has often been a time of separation.
These first two billboards are just the beginning. With your help, we’ll build upon the interest ignited by the art show in Dormont, helping others to feel not so alone in the dumpster fire that is 2020, and hopefully be an impetus for conversation that will alleviate stress and anxiety. And everyone is so much happier with less stress and anxiety!
Life is restarting.
I’m in a holding pattern.
I forgot my mask.
