The Connection Community Garden
The Connection Community Garden is located in Bronzeville and provides a place for residents of a predominantly Black neighborhood in an urban environment access to nature through growing their own food. Up until last year we were able to access water for the garden from the fire department. After 6 years serving the community a local ordinance made the water legally inaccessible to us. In order to continue to serve the families who enjoy the garden and grow our community, we need funding for the crucial water and Chicago Hydrant Use Permit that is necessary to nourish our crops. We have folks growing various types of tomatoes, ochra, corn, various greens and all kinds of delicious things. We really want to keep the garden open and growing.
