Promote the Goat Uplift
Promote the Goat (PTG) is a very special basketball program located in the Western suburbs of Sydney, providing coaching lessons and games to underprivileged kids aged 14-19. We are not only teaching them how to be part of a team and how to play an amazing game, we are also teaching them valuable life lessons, which helps to build their self-confidence and self-esteem in a fun way.
When I created PTG, I noticed there was no real cultural representation of athletes at a higher level in basketball, so I decided to promote celebrating cultural diversity in Australian basketball, as well as the health benefits of the sport. Mental, social, emotional, physical and spiritual.
I have been playing basketball for over 2 decades, travelling and playing interstate and internationally. My day job is at the Australia's biggest basketball store, but my biggest passion is Promote the Goat and helping the kids build their confidence, self-belief and life skills through basketball. I’m also using the sport to promote hooping for mental health and would really like to use my passion and experience to help women’s basketball as a whole and to have more females, coaching and playing!
We would like to enter our team into a local competition which runs for 12 weeks. It would be an amazing experience for the kids and help to not only hone their basketball skills, but also give them a real sense of working as a team and, hopefully success.
By allowing us to improve the lives of the kids in our program, you will be making them even more awesome than they already are. If Sydney's kids are more awesome, then Sydney too is more #awesome.
