Nature Walks for Elementary Students
Nature walks are an amazing way for children to get to know their own community from a different lens.
As a nature based educator and former Mill Valley educator, I am planning a series of guided nature walks and walking field trips for students of Coleman School in San Rafael and Lynwood School in Novato. The children will explore their own backyard flora/fauna and how the first people of Marin used these resources. We will go on nature scavenger hunts, create nature journals and take part in a service project for habitat restoration.
These mini field trips will be coordinated with the teachers so that they dovetail with their science and social studies curriculum.
