P.E.A.C.E.F.U.L. Parents / Teens
We provide wrap-around services to community organizations and families through intervention, prevention, and empowerment. Intervention services are delivered through peer support groups for teens 13-18 bi-weekly in person and virtually. These groups are not counseling but rooted in culturally-specific, trauma-informed care & social-emotional learning principles. We also custom-curate activities for the surviving parent & the teen to heal together & make new memories as they navigate their new normal. This also ladders into our empowerment pathway.
Based on feedback from our teen PEACE peer group parents, we want to add support for parents wrapped in trauma-informed care and solutions. Parents who have fled a life of violence are primarily focused on providing necessities for their families so that opportunities for fun memories cannot always be factored in. We want to remove that financial barrier. We envision these events to be quarterly, where we have parents do activities separately and the teen separate, then we have them come together to merge in their activity to show the power of collaboration and oneness. Our goal is to provide them with a safe space that removes barriers to communication and provides thought starters for the parent/teen to stay learning with each other to strengthen their bond in this new normal.
