Makerspace is an exciting program hosted and run by the Valley of the Tetons Library (VTL) staff. Within its walls community members will find a myriad of hands-on experiential and experimental learning activities including a music studio, sewing machines, a 3d printer, app driven robots, and various crafting and tinkering stations. Community members of all ages are welcome to follow along with loosely structured activities or use their imagination to create something new! With the space’s demand and popularity continuing to grow, library staff have discovered a need to replace our older and outdated items and applications; including our app-driven robots. The robots of the Makerspace are enormously popular with children of all ages, helping to teach STEM and coding concepts.

Integrating robots into the VTL Makerspace environment provides children with valuable skills, inspires their curiosity, and equips them with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly technologically advanced world by:

Advancing Future Technology Exploration: Exploring robotics sparks curiosity and encourages children to explore other emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, automation, and machine learning, preparing them for the technological advancements of tomorrow.

Offer Coding and Programming Skills: Robots offer an excellent platform for introducing children to coding and programming concepts, enabling them to develop computational thinking skills and learn coding languages.

Teach Collaboration and Teamwork: Incorporating robots promotes collaboration and teamwork among children as they work together to design, program, and operate robots, fostering important social skills.
