I am a Sophomore at Strongsville HIgh School and I am applying for funding for my Girl Scout Gold Award Project which has been approved by the Gold Committee at Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio. My project is called the ROAR Initiative (Reach Out At Recess) which will help improve inclusivity and reduce negative behaviors on the playground. This multistep process will provide the following to 5 elementary schools:
Installation of 5 buddy benches
Refinishing benches at the school playgrounds that are in a state of disrepair
Purchasing and installing black top games for black top only recess
Purchasing and installing a Peace Path to help to improve conflict resolution for playground disputes.
Purchasing board games for indoor recess that promote fellowship, inclusivity and group play.
Assist in hosting a “Community Day” for volunteers to assist in the painting the blacktop games at each school
Assist in hosting an Opening Day where high school students visit the elementary schools to teach them about the new equipment and improve interactions between younger and older students.
