In the past our school has provided food baskets and boxes for families over holiday breaks. We used our own budget for sides for thanksgiving to subsidize donated turkeys, and for winter break we were generously given boxes of blessings from a local organization. What many often do not account for are spring breaks for students. Our students will be without their school given meals for one week in the spring which is often a hardship as some shelters and pantries may only operate in the winter months. Based on our school survey, we have the highest percentage of students in need for our district based upon food insecurity in our area. It is our goal to be able to make around 75 food baskets to give out to families right before the spring break and pre easter holiday). Previous interest forms have indicated over 90 families interested in a support such as this for breaks.
