August’s Awesome Ottawa award goes to Letitia Charbonneau for a climate action mural project by seniors and youth.

“The mural,” explains Letitia, “will commemorate the first National Seniors for Climate Day. Over 50 events will be taking place across Canada, and the mural will bring attention to the urgency of dealing with climate change.”

The mural will be designed and produced by seniors and youth working with Claudia Salguero, a well-known local muralist. A collaborative project, it will be “a marvellous opportunity for dialogue,” says Letitia. She hopes to produce a video of the process.

Letitia is a convener for Seniors for Climate Action Now – Ottawa, and a retired middle school teacher.
