Digital Archives, Lafayette Co Historical Society

The Lafayette County Historical and Genealogy Society is a volunteer organization who operates two historical properties in Darlington WI, as museums and archives, all free and open to the public. The organization also displays original works of local artists, publishes a quarterly newsletter, and facilitates public programming.

Funds received from the Driftless Awesome Foundation will contribute to the historical society’s digital archive initiative, ensuring historical records, documents, and photos are stored and safely archived for future generations of Driftless residents. Particularly resonate with our team was the very apparent connection and commitment to the Driftless region, as noted in the application:

“Our work preserves the history of the region including native Americans, early pioneers, miners, farmers, and fur traders. Embracing and preserving the special qualities of the Driftless is at the very heart of our mission.”

We are thrilled to award our first micro grant to the Lafayette County Historical and Genealogy Society.
