Action Item Fair
The Action Item Fair is taking place on Saturday, January 14th - a daylong inquiry into clear, concrete steps that New Yorkers can take in order to support our neighbors, friends, family and fellow citizens who need it most. Hosted by ThoughtWorks in Manhattan, the event will run from 11am to 5pm and will bring individuals and organizations together to add new talent and energy into progressive causes.
Rather than reinvent the wheel, Action Item Fair invites its audience to seek the counsel of experienced leaders of progressive efforts. Attendees will meet with organizations that are deeply invested in systemic solutions to social, economic and environmental issues. The goal is for each person to leave with specific action items they will take to propel the movement forward. Actions may include advocacy, campaigning, consumer boycotts/ conscious consumerism, ethical investing, lobbying, demonstrating or acts of protest. To meet that goal, part of the day will include a "fair” for individuals to connect with organizations in 1-1 conversations.
Accompanying panel discussions and skill-building workshops will detail the many forms activism can take, and will provide tools that will empower participants to take the necessary steps towards realizing a better society for us all.
In order to help keep the event free for attendees, and AwesomeNYC's grant will help fund lunch to be provided by the Snowday Food Truck (a social enterprise that employs formerly incarcerated youth).
If you are interested in attending you can RSVP now.
