Radio: Finding Me/Multi-Ethnic Recording Project
Two AWESOME projects, one great radio station.
Nemo Siqueiros, a 23-year-old who is Mexican, transgender and autistic produces the Red River region’s only queer radio show called “Finding Me”. It’s focused on LGBTQ people and their issues and airs on 88.1 FM, KPPP-LP, Fargo-Moorhead’s newest non commercial low-power radio station. The Awesome gift will allow Nemo to expand his programming while fostering awareness, understanding, and compassion for LGBTQ people.
88.1 FM, KPPP-LP radio is also home to the “Multi-Ethnic Recording Project,” an initiative designed to produce multilingual radio programming that showcases the areas diversity. The funding will help train members, and provide community members support and equipment to produce programming.
Both of these radio projects will encourage support of and a welcoming environment for marginalized people and their voices here in the F-M area.
