What do we do?
We provide $1,000 no strings attached grants to people with great ideas making Lake Mac even more Awesome! Every 2 months we award a no-strings-attached grant of $1,000 to a project that we deem Awesome. We're interested in a wide variety of projects whether you're a local business or passionate family. If you think your idea is worth $1,000, send us an application.
Once you apply via our website, every second month we collate applications for our board members to tell us their top 3 favourites. If you make the top 3 for that round, we will invite you to a pitch event. At the pitch event is when we award the winner and organise bank transfer of the $1000 - no strings attached!
What are we looking for?
There are no set rules about what we will or won't fund, but here are some of the things we would like to see in a grant application:
- Innovative, exciting and unusual ideas - but we also want to know that you can achieve what you're setting out to do
- Ideas that have the potential to go far
- Ideas filled with passion and purpose
- Local projects - we're invested in our local community and we want to do things that help Lake Macquarie grow
- Projects where the grant is a catalyst to kickstart something awesome
- Community benefit – we like to see people coming together through a project instead of enjoying it in isolation
Like we said before, these aren't rules, they're guidelines. We are more than happy to throw away everything we mentioned earlier for any project that makes us stop in our tracks and say “That's awesome!”
If you'd like more feedback on a grant proposal, feel free to get in touch with us at lakemac@awesomefoundation.org
Join our Awesome Lake Mac board!
Would you like to be a guest? Would you like to be a permanent board member?
We have two types of board members: guests or permanent members! You can participate for one month here or there, or join us on a permanent basis and help us shape the chapter.
Awesome Lake Mac is made up of individuals who contribute their time and money to support awesomeness in Lake Macquarie City. Each second month 10 board members get together, listen to pitches, and contribute their cash to the $1,000 grant. Guests board members contribute on an ad-hoc basis, and permanent board members participate every grant round!
If you'd like to join us as a guest or permanent board member, please email us: lakemac@awesomefoundation.org
