Newburgh's International day of Happiness
On Tuesday, March 20, 2019 Safe Harbors of the Hudson will host its third celebration of International Day of Happiness. It will be held in the Safe Harbors Lobby at the Ritz and historic Green Room, located at 107-111 Broadway in Newburgh, NY.
A profound shift in attitudes is underway all over the world. People are now recognizing that 'progress' should be about increasing human happiness and wellbeing, not just growing the economy.
March 20 has been established as the annual International Day of Happiness (IDOH) and all 193 United Nations member states have adopted a resolution calling for happiness to be given greater priority. The pledge for IDOH is “I will try to create more happiness in the world around me". This campaign is a global celebration, coordinated by Action for Happiness, a non-profit movement of people from 160 countries, supported by a partnership of like-minded organizations.
Safe Harbors, along with Jacobowitz and Gubits, Recap and other organizations, will be featuring food, live entertainment, community workshops featuring circus arts skills including balancing each other, balancing objects, juggling, rolling globes, Zumba and other types of dance, jokes, storytelling, joke telling, karaoke, music, hula hoops, a drum circle, a photo booth, Bingo, conversation corner, pop-up kids performances, a human checkerboard, art projects, and much, much more.
We hope as many people from the community will attend and carry forward this happiness campaign in their own lives.
