Man Up Minneapolis Street Outreach
We have put out an inquiry out to the North Minneapolis community to come together to launch a Urban Youth Outreach entitled “Man Up Minneapolis” Community Street Outreach that will consist of an open air outreach in North MPLS where organizations can come along side us to show love and compassion to young African American males and males of color. The vision for this outreach is to have suits donated to give to young boys of color ages 15 to 21, vendor booths of community youth resources, an inspirational hip hop concert, 100 fathers to give hugs to fatherless young men, 10 off duty police officers to hang out and fellowship with boys of color, food provided for the young men, 3 on 3 basketball and a message of love from Korey “XROSS” Dean. This is an outreach for the whole family and free of charge. We believe the term Man Up from a community standpoint simply means for all to “Show Up”! Show up with your family, friends, resources and compassion.
We are now executing on the vision above. We have a date set Saturday, June 9th from 4pm to 9pm. Sanctuary Field located at 711 W. Broadway has partnered with us and has offered their facility, parking lot and front lawn free of charge for this youth outreach. I will also meet to mentor 15 African American high school males once a week for 3 hours in North MPLS at the North YMCA.
