Raising the Bar for Women's Cycling in Chicago
606 Racing (@606racingchicago on Instagram) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Chicago-based cycling race team that focuses on the development of elite cyclists by focusing on competitive preparation, tactics, and goal setting. For far too long, the growth of women's cycling has been stunted by inequitable funding and lackluster public support. 606 Racing is changing that narrative; in 2024, we created a women's team that hopes to streamline the talent pipeline to national-level events. We focus on getting women more race experience and empowering them to meet their goals on and off the bike.
We are also heavily involved in community cycling events, such as group rides, racing practice, local races, and public speaking. We are fully committed to growing the sport of competitive cycling in Chicago and the Midwest.
We will use the money to prioritize race registration fees for our women's development team. Our women race many different cycling disciplines, including road, cyclocross, mountain bike, and track. The average race registration costs $50. We imagine using such funds to help cover the race registration fees of races local to the Chicago area, including the ICA Cup races and the Chicago Cyclocross Cup races.
