Sip-Portive Cafe
We have had the great privilege of having the Awesome Foundation support our initial social enterprise at our CommUnity Cafe. We are back to ask once more to help us build our Sip-portive Cafe, a new paid employment opportunity for the graduates of our CommUnity Cafe food service program.
As the members of Awesome Kingston may remember, Bloom Skills Centre is a non-profit charity that supports young adults with intellectual and developmental exceptionalities develop skills for employment and we help them find work in the community. Our CommUnity Cafe is our food service and food skill program. Each session we have students transition to independent work be we always have a few that still need support. This new venture, at the VIA rail station, will be an opportunity for those students to have paid employment, with support on hand. That way their skills are recognized but their needs are met.
