Private Freedom
I am drawing upon my background as Honor Guard team leader (we did ceremonies, parades, and memorial services) to support veterans. The Private Freedom website, twitter feed, and Facebook page are all integrated towards that cause.
The Private Freedom project will either help raise money for veterans who have returned home and/or collect food and other daily needs for care packages to send to the troops still overseas.
However, it is not totally "Gloucester-centric". I am working with the DAV in Gloucester, with the goal of also lending a hand to the AMVETS and the American Legion (I guess it depends on how big it grows!). But I am also working with Operation Troop Support, located in Danvers.
Private Freedom's overarching philosophy is to increase public awareness of the weekly needs of our veterans and troops still deployed and not just the handful of times per year of "peak interest".
