I make one of a kind bird feeders that are part art and part bird feeder. I came up with the idea in 2012 and have been working ever since to perfect it. I've just reached my goal and have a prototype that is durable, functional and beautiful. My project: to make and place a bird feeder on the grounds of each nursing home in Tallahassee.

What is unique about these bird feeders is that they combine colorful and luminous original art with a low profile seed tray. When the birds feed, the result is a dynamic interplay of sunlight, motion and color. Given that our community members needing nursing home care are restricted in their ability to explore the natural world, I see these bird feeders as a means of bringing the natural world a little closer to them and making it a little brighter.

This project has the potential to delight and engage all who reside, visit and work in nursing homes in our community.
