Sealey Elementary Accelerated Reader Club
Young children who do not shift from learning to read to reading to learn will not become proficient readers. This shift requires interest, access to print resources, and motivation.
Sealey Elementary School prepares students for independent learning by hosting an Accelerated Reader’s Club to support, motivate, and reward students that meet their reading goals. In the AR Club, teachers assign a reading level during the first two weeks of school and students may choose to read a variety of books within that level.
At the end of each nine week period, 1st to 5th grade students that have scored the required number of "points" will get to participate in a chaperoned AR celebration. The Advanced Reader’s Club allows us to share student learning data in the most transparent format, and provide opportunities for staff and students to celebrate progress.
