Just Write Community Project

Just Write is a simple idea with profound impact. A community project curated by community organizer, activist and nonprofit coach Tanesha ("Coach Tea") Ingram, Just Write runs quarterly letter-writing parties to provide support and encouragement to people writing letters to their incarcerated friends and loved ones and to help keep those communities connected.
In Coach Tea's words:
Just Write is so awesome! We gather the community quarterly to write to children and adults that are incarcerated. Our letter writing parties involve, art, music and love. We create a safe space so that children and other community members do not feel ashamed about writing to their loved one in jail! On September 15th we are having a GIVE day for youth with a family member incarcerated. The day is designed to support the youth with building positive relationships , learning through play and self-expression. Youth can take advantage of slime and beat making, face-painting and team-building activities.
Your $1000 will actually help with our Essay & Art Contest. We are launching this context prior to the event to give youth an opportunity to express how having a loved one incarcerated makes them feel and how they plan to still live a successful life regardless of these circumstances. We are super excited about this!
