Un Respiro de Vida / A Breath Of Life
Un Respiro de Vida or Breath of Life is a project dedicated to making masks for our local farmworkers by immigrant mothers of our community that are also not working. While we waited for protection that never came, our community mobilized to be able to get protection for our large farmworker and essential worker community. For this project we are sharing stipends with the mothers that are making the masks as they also do not have income right now and are struggling. We are hearing from many other farms that need masks outside the area to include Watsonivlle, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, Gilroy and Hollister- so our masks continue into this time of COVID which is providing life saving protection stitched with love. Those that have received it have shared that this has been a relief to know they have protection. As we hear about the high number of Latinos impacted by COVID it's critical that we do everything we can to protect our immigrant community.
