Flexible Seating for Young Adults
Our Adult Transition Program for individuals with disabilities works on 4 key domains which include:
• Independent Living Skills
• Vocational and Employment Skills
• Personal and Social Skills
Leisure and Recreation Skills.
We would like for you to be an integral partner in the successful implementation and growth of the BLAST program. Because this program is unique, the facility needs are quite different than the needs typically associated with our traditional classrooms. In
order to properly support the teaching and learning of skills aligned to the curricular framework mentioned above, our classroom (or Learning Lab) is designed to simulate real-world living quarters. The learning labs contain a Bedroom suite, Living room suite, kitchen/dining areas, as well as an area designed for group instruction. It is through systematic and sustained instruction in real-world environments that they will learn the skills needed to achieve optimal post-school success. We currently have a need to fulfill flexible seating options and that will address various sensory and adapted needs for our unique students. This grant will address those needs by allowing us to purchase various seating options.
