Sweets for the Soul Project
I use 20% of sales from my Soul Man Sweets baking business and invest it back into the community. Each month I pick two or more recipients that receive either a donation of baked goods, service or a monetary donation. Recent recipients have been a family that unexpectedly lost their dad. I worked with a children's book author who donated a signed book, I made illustrated cookies to go with each page and gave them a financial donation as well. The Carroll Community College Foundation auctioned off a cooking class with me to raise money for their scholarship program. I worked with 1623 to raise money for a Stronger Than Cancer Fundraiser. Each month a local nursing home receives baked good to help them celebrate special days. I've also done cookie decorating classes with the residents. My favorite Sweets for the Soul projects are the ones that I don't post. Making birthday cakes for families that can't afford to buy nice ones for their children. I also give to local sports and dance programs and other organizations.
