Publication of Music Notation Book in Braille
Our awesome project is named BlindRocks. BlindRocks is an inspiring non-profit organization dedicated to working in the art and adventure field. Our flagship initiative, the BlindRocks band, is composed entirely of blind and visually impaired members who passionately engage in performances at a variety of events. Music, for us, is not just entertainment; it's a powerful healing remedy that transcends physical barriers.
However, a daunting issue stands in the way of realizing the full potential of our talented members. While the majority of them are deeply enthusiastic about singing, and for many, it serves as a significant source of income, there's a glaring challenge that impedes their progress: the lack of accessible music notations designed for the blind and visually impaired. These individuals face an insurmountable barrier in reading and interpreting music notation, preventing them from pursuing professional careers as singers or music educators.
This crucial problem extends beyond their individual aspirations. It's about equal participation and contribution to the field of music, a field where their immense potential and passion remain largely untapped. We are at a turning point and recognize the urgency of the situation. BlindRocks is committed to filling this gap in the music industry by publishing Braille books of music notation, thereby empowering the visually impaired to fulfill their dreams and play an active role in the world of music. Our mission is to break down these barriers, opening doors to professional growth and creative expression for those who deserve every opportunity to shine in the world of music. BlindRocks is committed to making this vision a reality.
What our grantee is saying: "Our awesome project, BlindRocks, is dedicated to empowering blind and visually impaired individuals through art and adventure. Receiving the Awesome Disability October Award is a testament to the importance of our mission. It not only recognizes our efforts but also strengthens our resolve to break down barriers and create a more inclusive music industry. This award will enable us to publish Braille books of music notation, giving visually impaired individuals the opportunity to fulfill their musical dreams. It's a crucial step toward equal participation and contribution to the world of music. We are deeply grateful for this award, and we are committed to making this vision a reality."
