Workforce Development and Educational Advancement
Miami-Dade County is home to the largest Haitian diaspora in the world, and it is where two Haitian Americans in Miami started an ambitious project called The Haitian Community Platform. The goal of this platform is to create a lively center celebrating Haiti's rich cultural heritage while also advocating for the advancement of Haitians through educational and academic enrichment, entrepreneurship, and business support.
At the core of this mission is the new "Workforce Development and Educational Advancement" initiative, which directly confronts the obstacles facing Haitian Americans and immigrants in Miami-Dade such as language barriers, scarcity of culturally relevant resources, and the lack of financial resources for education. The Haitian Community Platform's Academy, an online educational platform, is developing a wide-ranging program that equips individuals with hands-on training in coding, database management, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and other vital technical abilities for entry-level tech positions. However, it goes beyond just technical knowledge. Participants acquire the tools for real professional growth in technology through practical experience, mentorship, and career networking.
The program curriculum is culturally attuned, providing language assistance and nuanced understanding, embracing the roots of the Haitian community. As we prepare to launch this transformative initiative that will prepare Haitians in Miami to enter entry-level tech positions, we invite others to join the journey in shaping a future where Haitians in Miami-Dade County can thrive in the tech field.
