Shea Butter Babies was founded with the purpose of elevating and highlighting Black burlesque and performance artists, and to create spaces that showcase the rich tapestry of Black creativity. Amid an economic equity crisis, we are committed to supporting artists of color with fair pay and providing an unrestricted platform to amplify their artistry. A $1000 grant from the Austin Awesome Foundation will helpfund a special Pride/Juneteenth event spotlighting Black Queer performers, and ensure these artists are compensated fairly.
