Trinidad History & Future Festival

The Trinidad History and Future Festival is a vibrant, volunteer-run event that celebrates the rich history of the Trinidad neighborhood while actively engaging residents in shaping its future. Scheduled to coincide with the weekly farmers market, this festival will blend historical exhibits with interactive future-planning activities to foster community involvement and pride. Planned elements include, but are not limited to:

Historical Exhibits:

The Lovings’ Story: An exhibit dedicated to the Lovings, featuring photographs, historical documents, and interactive displays about the landmark Supreme Court case that legalized interracial marriage.

Washington Senators Ballpark: A display on the former home of the Washington Senators (the first DC baseball team), showcasing memorabilia, old photographs, and personal stories from local residents.

Future-Making Activities:

Interactive Timeline: A large, engaging timeline where residents can contribute their ideas for the neighborhood's future, ranging from practical improvements like new street trash cans to imaginative concepts like “flying car parking.”

We envision this festival as an annual tradition that will expand over time, continually incorporating new stories and ideas from our community.
