Ensuring Extracurricular Opportunities for All

Ipswich High School (IHS) is fortunate to offer Engineering courses to interested students. In the Engineering Projects class, students collaborate in teams while competing in an online points race, and develop hands-on skills building their own radio controlled race cars during school hours.

As a culmination to their work, teams that qualify normally attend the Ten80 National RC Racing Competition.

Hopefully, all thirty-eight students will qualify and attend this competition. To do so, they are seeking financial support to make this dream happen. Without fundraising, unfortunately, many interested students will not be able to attend.

This is not only a great collaborative STEM experience but also an opportunity to bond with other like-minded students. For English language learners in particular, this opportunity is beneficial to bonding with other students through the shared experience of competing together.

Among the 38 students, three of them, Dylan Meija Rivas, Darwin Ramirez, and Carlos Colombo (JR) especially need the funds. These three students are multilingual learners and have the additional challenge of English being their second language. Each of these students will tell you why the funds are necessary for them to be able to attend this once in a lifetime trip. Dylan and Darwin are both seniors, so this is their last opportunity to be able to take this class and be part of this competition!
