Gloop Collage: a free public collage workshop

In conjunction with my exhibition at ADS Gallery in Newburgh called Gloop Entity, I will be hosting a free collage-making workshop for the public. My work in the show uses collage techniques, so I’m excited to share this hands-on creative process with the community. The workshop will take place the first weekend in June in the courtyard outside the gallery.

Using nature images from old magazines, this is an all-ages and all-abilities workshop that will teach Newburgh residents the basics of photo-based collage. We will explore imagery of forests, fungi, flowers, space, and oceans to deepen our understanding and love of the natural world. We will work in a tactile, playful way. Cutting shapes, layering images, and combining images will reveal new, unexpected visions of our earth and cosmos.

Ethically foraged natural materials will also be available for those interested in making mixed media collage.

Participants will go home with one (or several) of their own collage creations on 11"x14" board. Complimentary food and drinks will be served. Appropriate for all ages and abilities (ages 5+).

Since applying with this project for the first time in March, I’ve spoken with two trustees and integrated their feedback into this version of the application.
