Youth Making a Change Screen-Printing Series
Youth members of Youth Environmental Justice Alliance (YEJA) and the larger East Portland community will learn how to design and screen print t-shirts that reflect our social justice values. YEJA will hold 3-4 different workshop sessions on t-shirt design and screen print demonstration, with the final session of youth leaving with free shirts. The project will increase awareness and diversity because it brings together low-income youth and youth of color to build relationships over a creative project. It also strengthens our capacity by bringing new students into the YEJA meeting space to learn about our advocacy work, and specifically teaching youth how to channel creative energy through hands-on screen printing. We hope to be able to engage 50 youth (13-18) through this project.
