Bus Stop Buddies
This project will be a film highlighting youth that participate in Bus Stop Buddies, a mentorship program in central Baltimore's Greenmount West Neighborhood. Bus Stop Buddies is a program that has adults from within the community standing at the bus stop with students in an effort to provide a positive start to their day. Activities that go down at Bus Stop Buddies include daily games of tag, hot chocolate on cold days, check-ins from Mr. Joe who works at the corner store, and introspective conversations between youth and adult community members. The premise of this film is to show the youth and spotlight their personalities and unique perspectives of their community.
The film will be screened at the Charles Theatre to a crowd consisting of family, friends and neighbors. At the film screening, youth from the film will have the opportunity participate in a Q&A panel about their experience making the film. It will be an opportunity to spotlight the youth. They are very much excited that they will be in a movie shown at a movie theater!
