Scoring Goals in the South End
Scoring goals in the South End is a plan to bring youth soccer to the South End. Starting with free clinics to educate, build interest and generate community commitment. Clinics will run once week for 6 consecutive weeks in the Spring and Fall of each year until there is a time when there is enough community involvement to establish a league or to partner with an existing league. The mains goals of the project are to make soccer accessible to youth in the community who may not have the finances to pay league dues or whose family may have a hard time transporting them across the city to participate in en exiting league. We will do this by offering the clinic for free and keeping the location within the 40214/40215 zip codes. Currently, there are no organizations offering youth soccer to the public in the area. We want to change that. We have been selected as the recipient of the Center For Neighborhoods, Neighborhood Institute Micro Grant that has funded the cost of initial soccer equipment and we have access to multiple fields in the area. The South End is the most diverse area in the city and soccer is the most played sport in the world. It only makes sense to have soccer where the world comes together in Louisville.
