State College's 7th Annual Cranksgiving

Cranksgiving is an annual bicycle-driven food drive that blends cycling and community service. Originating in New York in 1999, Cranksgiving has expanded to over 100 locations nationwide. Our event in State College has grown tremendously since its start and will celebrate its 7th year next season!
Every year, the local cycling community gathers during the Thanksgiving season to ride to local grocery stores and purchase items for the Centre County Youth Service Bureau. These donations directly support local teen shelters and families through their parenting programs. Over the past six years, Cranksgiving State College has raised more than $18,000 in groceries for CCYSB. This year was our biggest yet, raising nearly $5,000 in donations, and we're already gearing up to make next year even better. We're considering expanding to a two-day event to drive even greater participation and donations. We’re excited about the possibility of having the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile join us for an extra boost of fun and visibility, though we may not secure an appearance this year.
** this event is typically end of October, early November.
