I would like to compose and record a jazz music piece featuring stories from Marin County’s BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) students as the centerpiece. It will be a jazz composition featuring Bay Area female musicians and Bay Area female musicians of color. The piece will feature spoken word submissions from Marin County youth sharing their experiences of racism, antisemitism, sexism, and overall bigotry experienced here in the county to shine light on the safety issues young people face daily in our community. As an educator in the Marin County school system for 12 years, I have seen these issues first hand and want the young people to get the support and education they deserve.
