6th Grade Astronauts

I would love to give my students the resources to be astronauts. I teach 140 6th grade students about weather, plate tectonics and space (objects and travel). In the past I have had them build hover crafts that we got to ride in competition against each other. This year I would love for them to build a land rover that simulates the moon rover. Space travel is a very high priority in our economy right now and I teach my kids that anyone can achieve their goals. I know we can't go into space but we can ride around the school and pretend until a future job becomes available. My space unit last for an entire semester and there is only so much I can say about objects in space. My students love hands on projects and it gives them much needed experience with working as a team member.
